Future Office
The Dove Creek renovation has started! The original downstairs has been gutted, allowing a clean palate for a new, more spacious floorplan. Reorganization and efficiency of space is the focus now, with new walls being erected and concrete being poured for the updated gourmet kitchen.
Renovation will begin soon on an iconic home in the small town of Argyle, Texas. The house, built by the Kolbs in 1986 to simulate an early 1900s ranch house, has fallen into disrepair by the intermediate owner and is now being refurbished by the current owner back to its inventive ideal.
Originally this home was built to provide a beautiful backdrop for the Kolb’s collection of antiques, and then later, another section of the home was attached to provide an office for Mr. Kolb’s real estate business. This office was the original real estate agency in Argyle, and for 10 years, this house was the first stop for anyone before finding their own home in the area.
The house contains antique doors and stained glass windows collected from all over the country, as well as an old train trestle from a bridge acting as mantle pieces and porch supports. The walls and ceilings are butt-joint milled cedar and the oversized fireplace in the living room has a pot holder for cooking soups over a fire.
Coldwater Creek shot all catalogs at the farm from 1995-1999 and it was also featured in Country Gardens magazine, as well as several others, displaying the beautiful grounds and unique house.
Most of the windows have been broken out and metallic spray paint covers the gorgeous wood in the house, including the mahogany fireplace in the master bedroom. A bird sanctuary was built in the house and birds were allowed to chew on the antique wood and knock out the antique glass of the windows. Mrs. Kolb is a Texas registered Master Gardener and the once well-maintained grounds were allowed to become overgrown
The house has come full circle through the Real Estate Station. Dave Salisbury, the current owner of RES is also the owner of Hamilton Homes, the construction company set to start the classic renovation to reinstate the home as an icon of the small town’s beginnings. The restoration will be a 6-8 month project.
The Dove Creek project is coming along great! We just got going and we will update soon!
